Microblading. Where to Begin? 3 Wise Lessons to Help Get You Started on your Microblading Career

So you want to start Microblading? That's great! This journey will have its ups and downs. There will be great victories as well as a few moments of self doubt in between. But trust me when I say this: the end can be quite rewarding.

Like beginning any business, the first step can be the scariest especially when you aren't sure where to start. That's where we come in! I have reached out to several microbladers around the world asking them, "What do you wish someone would have told you when you first started your mircoblading journey?"

This is what they had to say:

Lesson #1 Research

Google. It is both rewarding as well as challenging. There are endless possibilities, and deciding where to go can be overwhelming. Don't let the fear of making the wrong decision keep you from starting.

Do your research, compare teaching schools to other schools. Don’t just sign up and loan money, or pay for the classes without knowing what you’re paying for. Don’t be impressed so easily with the feeds and sweet words or quotes of the masters or school. Find the school that will fit your needs.

Lesson #2 Connect

What I believe differentiates great artists from others is their ability to form a connection. Don't be afraid to reach out to others who are in the microblading business. You can learn so much from the experiences of others before jumping into your own experiences. It will help prepare you for any walls you may face in the future, and I'm sure they will enjoy the compliment of having someone admire their work and seek their wisdom.

There are many Facebook groups and online communities out there to help encourage you and guide you on your way to becoming a better PMU artist.

Lesson #3 Practice Practice Practice

Training may come easy, but mastering the skill of becoming an microblading guru could take months. One eyebrow expert said this:

"I did a master class in microblading and sorted out all the unanswered questions I had, but 3 years later it's all down to practice practice practice! The confidence comes with practicing strokes. No patterns just go with the flow of the brow and face given to you.

With better support, better results are possible to achieve. Many believe once training is complete, you begin working on clients right away. That is both risky and to be frank...terrifying!

Get your hands on a beginner microblading kit, and use your tools to practice as much as possible. PMUproducts has a great microblading kit, perfect for beginners who are trying to perfect their skill and making those brows look amazing!

All This to Say...

It’s important to realize that microblading may not be for everyone. It takes a good amount of patience and an ability to pay close attention to details.

The good news is that with a teachable mind and the right work ethic, you can be a successful microblading artist. You get out what you put in.
